Hangzhou is a notable historical and cultural city in China. Being the capital of Zhejiang Province, it has a population of 6 million residents and is located an easy 180 kms from Shanghai.With an outstanding new international airport, and situated in the midst of lakes, rivers and mountains, the economically prosperous Hangzhou City has long been regarded as among the most desirable travel and tourism destinations in China. Hangzhou has been honored as the national garden green city, the best tourist city in China, and the national environment protection demo city. The United Nations has also recognized Hangzhou through its presentation of the human residence award. As the old saying has it, "In the sky there is heaven ... on earth there is Hangzhou," this heavenly city, Hangzhou, has long been known as a paradise of leisure activities. Hangzhou is famous for its waters and mountains; therefore, the key leisure resources are its natural landscape.

Transportation--Coming to Hangzhou

As one of China 's premier tourism cities, Hangzhou enjoys very convenient public transportation. You may arrive in Hangzhou in either of the following ways:

By plane:
Hangzhou has scheduled flights connecting flights to and from Beijing , Shanghai , Guangzhou , Shenzhen, Guilin , Fuzhou , Xiamen , Xi'an , Dalian and other major domestic Chinese cities. Also, Hangzhou offers flights to and from Hong Kong and Singapore .

The airport is situated 27km of the town. A public shuttle operates to the center of town from the airport.

By train:
Hangzhou is a large rail traffic terminal in eastern China .

When you arrive at Hangzhou Railway Station, you can either take a taxi, or take Bus No. 21 to the front gate of Yuquan Campus and then Bus No. 89 to Zijingang Campus , Zhejiang University.

If you arrive at Hangzhou Eastern Railway Station, you can either take a taxi, or take Bus No. 21 to the front gate of Yuquan Campus and then Bus No. 89 to Zijingang Campus , Zhejiang University.

By boat:
There are pleasure boat trips down from Suzhou along the Grand Canal, or up from Fuyang, Wufan, Jiande, Lanxi and other cities in Zhejiang province along the Qiantang River.

By shuttle:
Situated at the heart of Zhejiang 's highway network, Hangzhou is connected with Shanghai , Nanjing , Suzhou and other neighbouring cities by major highways.

Moving around Hangzhou:

In the city of Hangzhou are more than 300 bus routes, several of which are all-night service. Hangzhou has plentiful taxis for hire that are inexpensive.

Another nice way to get around is by bicycle. Most hotels have bikes for hire by the day.

When you first arrive at Hangzhou , we recommend that you take a tax from airport or railway station to your hotel (please write down the address on a piece of paper, and show it to tax driver), then you can make your explorations.
