概要：莎士比亚后期浪漫剧《暴风雨》是一部以被颠覆的秩序最终得到恢复为主题的作品。普洛斯彼罗用以“恢复秩序”——亦即夺回自己的公国、迫使昔日的敌人忏悔并与之达成和解——的工具是他的魔法。他的魔法本质上是一种强制力，但由于它具有自我隐身的特点，普洛斯彼罗通过它得以在强迫对手悔过向善的同时使他们的道德自新看起来像是自然发生的一样。人人自发向善是神话中黄金时代的一个特点，普洛斯彼罗在一定程度上成功地重现了黄金时代的景象。这一乌托邦幻景对魔法的依赖也揭示出这样一个悖论：关于黄金时代的神话虽然从不提“王权”，但黄金时代实质上却是王权运用到极致情况下的一个产物。
Thematically The Tempest concerns itself with the restoration of the disrupted order. The tool with which Prospero “restores order”—namely, regaining his dukedom, forcing his enemies to repent, and finally effecting reconciliation with them—is his magic. Prospero’s magic is in essence a coercive power, but this power has the unique attribute of being able to hide itself behind the facade of nature. Equipped with this self-hiding power, Prospero was enabled to compel repentance from his enemies without letting them know the true nature of their moral transformation. Man turning to good spontaneously is one of the characteristic features of the Golden Age. To the extent that Prospero achieves a seemingly spontaneous moral transformation in his enemies, we can say that Prospero has partly realized the utopian Golden Age in the real world. The fact that this Golden World is heavily reliant on power highlights an intriguing paradox: Although power seems to be absent in the mythical Golden Age, the Golden Age itself is actually the product of the highest form of the kingly power, i.e., the kingship of the god.
