摘要：
SMATTI是以下六个语族的简称：Sinitic汉语、Miao-Yao苗瑶、Austro-Asiatic南亚、Tai-Kadai壮侗、Tibeto-Burman藏缅和Indo-Aryan印度-雅利安。我们关注的焦点是SMATTI语言中的数词与量词。在理论上我们论证量词与数词中的「位数词」，如「十」、「百」、「千」、「万」等，同样具有乘法上「被乘数」的功能。这个以乘法为基础的理论产生出两项预测：一、有量词的语言也应该要有位数词；二、在量词语言中，其位数词在数词中的相对词序与量词在「数词─量词」中的相对词序应该一致。我们从约两百个SMATTI的量词语言中验证这两项预测，并且从类型学的角度来讨论位数词词序与量词词序在这些语言中的分布，并探究其原因。

讲座题目：The Question is: How Many Types of Questions Are There?The Case of Chinese and English

Contra the conventional three-way taxonomy of syntactically-formed questions: (i) polar questions, (ii) disjunctive questions, and (iii) constituent questions (e.g., Huang, Li & Li 2009 for Chinese, Huddleston 1994 for English), we argue for a two-way dichotomy: polar versus constituent questions. Pragmatically, this distinction can be characterized as confirmation-seeking versus information-seeking, i.e., a polar question seeks confirmation of the proposition put forth, while a constituent question seeks information targeted by the specific wh-constituent. Polar questions in Mandarin are formed syntactically by the sentence-final particle ma, while constituent questions require a wh-element with an optional particle ne. Disjunctive questions in Chinese, formed with haishi ‘or’ or its silent counterpart HAISHI, are thus constituent questions. In English, however, questions previously regarded as polar questions (e.g., Are you happy?) are reclassified as constituent questions with a silent wh-element WHETHER-OR-NOT. Disjunctive questions (e.g., Are you happy or sad?) are likewise constituent questions with a silent wh-element WHETHER. We submit that this two-way distinction may well be universal.
何万顺（One-Soon Her），美国夏威夷大学语言学博士，台湾国立政治大学语言学研究所特聘教授，“心智、大脑与学习”研究中心兼职研究员，《台湾语言学期刊》主编与科技部（国科会）语言学门咨议委员；曾先后担任国际政治大学语言研究所所长，澳洲邦德大学、美国夏威夷大学、澳洲昆士兰大学等客座教授，获得各种奖励数十项。主要从事汉语语法、比较语法、数量词、言语失误等方面的研究，学术成就有：Grammatical Functions and Verb Subcategorization in Mandarin Chinese（2008）、Interaction and Variation in the Chinese VO Construction（2010）、《语言癌不癌？语言学家的看法》（2016，合著）等四部论著及《三民新英汉辞典》（1995）与《三民精解英汉辞典》（1997）两部，此外在Linguistics、Lingua、Language and Linguistics、Journal of Language and Linguistics、Journal of Chinese Linguistics、Language Sciences、Language Variation and Change、《汉语学报》等语言学专业期刊上发表论文近60篇。
