Abstract:
In this talk I will give a general overview of how English for Specific (ESP) has evolved over the past 60 years, or so. I describe the issues which concerned those involved in early course design for ESP, and illustrate, from textbooks, how theory was put into practice. Then, I outline some of the dimensions I consider to be important in developing ESP courses for 21st Century learners.

Lindsay Miller自1990年起在香港城市大学英文系任教，从事课程的设计和开发，具有丰富的ESP课程设计和教学经验，发表过多部有关外语教学的专著及论文。为香港自主学习和发展HASALD协会的创办者。
