摘要:
Until recently, we have assumed that English Renaissance literary culture was overwhelmingly male-dominated. Within the past thirty years, however, we have recovered copious evidence of women’s authorship, and a new canon of women’s writing. This lecture adds to our understanding of women’s engagement with Renaissance textual culture by exploring how women were involved in copying, editing, printing, and selling books. It shows that women played crucial roles in the early marketplace of print, and the development of English writing and publishing.
