摘要:
In the time of Alexander Pushkin adequate Russian translations of Shakespeare were first published and staged. Since then Shakespeare has been present in the Russian cultural consciousness as an ‘eternal fellow-traveler’. His plays in new translations and theatrical interpretations accompanied the most crucial events in 20th-century Russia: revolution, Stalin’s era and the so-called ‘thaw period’ that followed it. The foremost Russian poets reflected on Shakespeare in their original verse, critical essays, or participated in his translation. Important translators include Boris Pasternak and Marshak.
