专家介绍:
Marshall Brown is Professor Emeritus of comparative literature at the University of Washington (Seattle). He attended Harvard College, where he majored in German, graduating in 1965. He had a Fulbright Fellowship to study in Berlin for a year, and then returned to study comparative literature at Yale, earning his Ph.D. in 1972 with a dissertation on German Romanticism. Subsequently he taught at a number of universities in the United States before beginning his long-time association with University of Washington, where for 30 years he edited the journal Modern Language Quarterly.
讲座提要:
The lecture surveys literary criticism of the Romantic period, chiefly in Anglo–American literary history and explores a range of key topics and themes. It is designed to help readers locate essential information and to develop approaches and viewpoints for a deeper understanding of issues discussed by Romantic critics or those that were fundamental to their works.
