We are delighted to announce the second International Conference on Language Development and Assessment, to be held from October 31st to November 2nd, 2025, at Zhejiang University, China. The conference will center around the theme:Language Assessment and Beyond: A Multi-disciplinary Dialogue.This conference aims to bring together experts, practitioners, and researchers from around the world to explore language development and assessment in the digital era through diverse and multidisciplinary perspectives.
We invite you to submit your proposals and join us in this exciting event. It will provide a multidisciplinary platform for the exchange of ideas, research findings, and best practices in the field.Proposals relevant to the following topics are preferred, but other topics related to language development and assessment are also welcome.
1. Innovations in language assessment: digital tools and AI integration
2. Integration of large language models in second language development
3. Learner agency, emotion, and strategies in AI-assisted language learning
4. Interactive alignment in second language human-computer interaction
5. Digital multimodal composition in the AI era
6. Learning processes and mechanisms of AI-assisted language interventions
7. Language proficiency standards in national and local contexts
8. Language assessment for specific purposes (ESP, EAP, etc.)
9. Diagnostic assessment and learner-centered approaches
10. Big data and learning analytics in language development
11. Equity, ethics, and fairness in assessment practices
12. Multimodal communication and assessment in the digital age
Presentation categories
ICLDA 2025 invites proposals for the presentation types listed below.
Papers
Papers should present theoretical or empirical research. The presentation slots are 20 minutes, followed by 10 minutes for questions and answers. Proposals for empirical studies should provide background and rationale for the research, descriptions of methodology, findings, and implications. Proposals for conceptual papers should introduce the problem addressed, provide the theoretical orientation or new approach, and indicate the logic of the argument the paper will present. Paper proposals should be between 450 and 500 words.
Symposia
A symposium consists of three or four research papers in a 90-minute session. They should include an introductory paper, in addition to the three or four papers, and a synthesis by a discussant. The entire proposal should be between 900 and 1,000 words. This should include an overview of the theme of the symposium and its significance for language assessment, along with titles and descriptions of each research paper.
Posters
Posters give presenters an opportunity to discuss assessment research or test development projects with a small group of participants. Presenters should be available to display and discuss their posters during a 60-minute session. Proposals for poster presentations should be between 350 and 400 words.
Evaluation of Proposals
All proposals will be subject to a double-blind review by two professionals in the field. Criteria will include significance of the topic/contribution to the field, appropriateness of conceptual framework and research design, and the proposal’s clarity.

Registration
Registration for the conference will be open from September 1st, 2025 to September 30th, 2025. Please note that all presenters and authors whose proposals are accepted will be required to register for the conference.
Registration fee
RMB 800 for regular participants, RMB 400 for students
Publication opportunities
Selected high-quality papers presented at the conference will have the opportunity to be considered for publication in a special issue of the Language Testing and Assessment Journal.

The conference will be held in Zhejiang University Yuanzheng Qizhen Hotel, 866 Yuhangtang Road, Xihu District, Hangzhou.
