内容简介：
Pragmatic competence plays a key role in intercultural communication, particularly for students studying in a target community. In this talk I will review the literature of second language (L2) pragmatics, with a focus on longitudinal studies on learners’ L2 pragmatic development in study abroad contexts, and point out methodological weaknesses in this field. Issues about native-speaker norm in L2 pragmatic research are discussed as well. I then present a longitudinal investigation into the effect of study abroad on learners’ L2 productive and receptive pragmatic competences, using Multimedia Elicitation Tasks and Appropriate Judgment Tasks. In addition, the study longitudinally examines learners’ cognitive processes during study abroad employing retrospective verbal reports. In the end, I will discuss methodological implications of this study and offer suggestions for future L2 pragmatic research.
个人简介：
任伟，博士，教授。现任广东外语外贸大学“云山青年学者”、教育部人文社会科学重点研究基地广东外语外贸大学外国语言学及应用语言学研究中心专职研究员。主持国家社会科学基金等课题5项，在Applied Linguistics, Journal of Pragmatics, Pragmatics, System等国际权威学术刊物上发表论文20余篇，在国际上出版个人专著L2 Pragmatic Development in Study Abroad Contexts (Peter Lang, 2015)，为多家国际SSCI学术期刊担任审稿人。主要研究领域为语用习得，研究兴趣涵盖语用学、英语作为通用语、汉语差异语用、语用测试等。
