讲座提要
In his lecture Marshall Brown will make a comparative reading of Shelley’s “Mont Blanc”and Byron’s “The Prisoner of Chillon.” He will start with the questions: What are the topics? What is said about them, or how are they handled? Then, he will focus on the the supernatural or transcendental elements in the poems to discuss the questions: What is constant in the poem?andwhat changes? Atlast, he will examine the philosophical stance of the poems and how the emotions interact with the philosophy.
