New Semester, New Outlook
—A German Professor and His Academic Report on M-Learning
March 31, 2010
The Institute of German Studies held an academic report on Mobile Learning (M-Learning) for all faculty members, postgraduate and senior undergraduate students of their Institute at East No.5 Room 202 on March 19, 2010. The reporter was Prof. Dr. Hymo Mitschian from Kassel University who was invited to
be a short-term visiting expert to SIS, ZJU. And the host of this report was the vice head of German
Institute, associate professor Li Yuan.
The report focusing on M-Learning can be generally divided into three parts: “E-learning” and its
importance in our everyday learning; details about M-Learning and its similarities and differences
compared with E-learning; and introduction of the German studies software in iPhone and points about
media-based German learning.
People present were all immersed in the original content, impressed by the professor’s sense of humor.
During the report, students and faculty members took an active part in the Q&A section with the
Professor. What’s more, the professor compared the German-Study Software in iPhone with E-Dictionary
“King of German” which is widely used by students. In sum, the discussion was pleasant and harmonious.
And students expressed their fascination of the fabulous “multi-media learning world”.
The Institute of German Studies will offer similar topics of academic reports in the near future.
