The 4-day “National Russian Competition for Universities” of 2009 Chinese “Russian Year”, which From Oct. 25th to 28th, has consummately completed its schedule and drawn to a close in
Languages (DLUFL).
Totally 197 contestants, full-time Russian-majored undergraduates and graduates from 66 academies around the nation, took part in the competition. After preliminary round, there were 79 left for the final contest. Through the sections of speech, national conditions Q&A, immediate translation, talent show and so on, 25 students finally
won the awards. They will be sent by the state for one-year overseas study in autumn, 2010 with the financial
support from China Scholarship Council (CSC).
Lu Qiwei (senior) and Yan Xiuxiu (sophomore) from Institute of Russian Language & Culture, Zhejiang University participated in the contests for senior class and junior class respectively. Yan successfully passed the preliminary round and performed steadily in the final round, especially the talent show in which she gained the first rank. She got the Third Prize among junior class; and the opportunity of one-year studying abroad on state-offered financial support as well. Lu has enjoyed the privilege as an exchange-student abroad when she was a junior student.
Thus she pitifully lost the qualification of entering the final according to the competition rules, though she also
performed well in the preliminary.
It was also a harvest that our students have learnt a lot from teachers and students from other universities.
