The final of the 9th French Song Singing Competition was held in Wuhan on May 9. He Wei, a senior student of Optical Department, Zhejiang University, won the first prize for his excellent performance.
Hosted by the French Embassy, the competition was held nationwide in China. The preliminary competitioins were respectively held in Beijing, Shanghai, Wuhan, Chengdu and Guangzhou. The 20 contestants entering the final all showed good skills, and the program was unique and creative in arrangement. As a rule, the four contestants winning the first would have the opportunity to attend the Summer Music Festival in France. The first and the second prize winners would attend La Rochelle International Music Festival in La Rochelle, France, the 3rd would attend French Jazz Music Festival, and the 4th would attend the French International Dancing Festival.
He Wei’s second foreign language is French. Although he has studied French for only 4 months, he has excellent pronunciation. With perfect singing skills and full understanding of the song, his performance won the judges’ great appreciation. Competing for the first place against another singer from WTO Department of Wuhan University, He Wei succeeded and therefore got the chance to attend the La Rochelle International Music Festival in France in the coming July.
