May 29, the 6-day National Training Seminar on Editorial Work of English Academic Journals, held by
of General Administration of Press and Publication of PRC, came to a successful close at Hangzhou
Yuquan Hotel.
Prof. Jian Qingmin, Director of Institute of Media for Foreign Language Teaching of Zhejiang University,
took the chair of this seminar. Organized and directed by Duan Jike, Deputy Director of Education and
Training Center of General Administration of Press and Publication of PRC, Lu Jianping, Yuan Jing
and Pan Xunyi from the institute had a thorough study and a lively discussion with 58 proprieters,
chief-editors and editors in charge from different cities of China, on the issue of the main faults existing
in the English academic journals. This time, the seminar also probed into the systematization and
institutionalization of training for editorial work.
This seminar enhanced both the sense of responsibility in publicity and professional language sensibility
among the English academic journals’ chief-editors and editors, which was rounded off in a warm and
friendly atmosphere.
