Ms Xie Xiujuan’s Paper Won First Prize at The Third National Forum for Postgraduates in French

The Third National Forum for Postgraduates, sponsored by Shanghai International Studies University(SISU) and French Consulate in Shanghai,  was held on May 8, 2009 in Hongkou Campus of SISU. Xie Xiujuan, a young teacher and Ph D candidate from Institute of French Studies, ZJU,  outshone other participants and her paper Recherche sur les toponymies comparées de la France et de la Chine won the first prize at the forum.

The Forum provided four seminars on linguistics, teaching methodology, literature and translation studies and culture respectively for master’s and doctoral students in French studies from all over the country. With all the questions raised in the Q&A section after presenting her paper, Ms Xie answered them smartly and fluently. Her paper, among altogether ten papers, won the greatest admiration from the audience and therefore got the first prize.

Prof. Chen Wei, deputy dean of Department of French in SISU, presided at the opening ceremony. Ms Cécile CORMIER, education consul of the French Consulate in Shanghai, addressed the forum. Wu Xiaofeng and Fan Chengbin， two graduate students from SIS, ZJU, attended the forum with over 40 postgraduates from other universities. The forum is a hotbed of academic creativity and atmosphere, enhancing academic communications and interactions between postgraduate students in French studies from different universities.
