August 24-29, The 15th World Congress of Applied Linguistics was held in
attendance of over 1500 scholars from different countries and regions all over the world, the congress
followed the theme of “Multilingualism: Challenges and Opportunities” which reflected the current
international issues. Prof. Shi Xu, director of
ZJU “Qiushi” (an honored title for professor in
invited to address a keynote speech at the congress. The report was entitled “Reestablishment of
the Oriental Pattern for Discourse Research”, which directed new orientation to the discourse research
of the 3rd-world countries and offered specific principles and strategies for academic communication
between west and east within this field.
