On the afternoon of November 28, the “Smart Win Education Cup” 2008 Pan-Yangtze River Delta Model
United Nations (MUN) Conference opened ceremoniously as a part of the 19th International Cultural
Festival of Zhejiang University on Zijinggang campus. With the guidance of United Nations of China,
the conference was directed by the Communist Youth League (CYL) Committee and School of
International Studies (SIS) of ZJU, and undertaken by the CYL Committee of SIS. The whole MUN
activity was sponsored with the name of “Smart Win Education”.
Since 2006, ZJU has held Model United Nations Conference for three times of different scales. This
conference has attracted a great many excellent students from 7 famous universities in the Pan-Yangtze
River Delta Area including Fudan University, Nanjing University, Shanghai International Studies
University, University of Science and Technology of China, Zhejiang University of Technology, Zhejiang
University of Commerce and Industry and Ningbo Nottingham University as well as students from more
than 20 different colleges of ZJU. Present at the conference are over 140 university students from 8
universities, including 14 overseas students from the International Educational College of ZJU.
In the following two days, representatives of English Committee and Chinese Committee will
respectively stimulate UNEP on the topic DM and International Cooperation in the Development of
New and Renewable Energies and UNHRC on Human Trafficking and Human Rights, give speeches
and make discussions at the conference according to the standing orders and regulations.
