With  the  political  and economic  development  of China in the new   century,  China  enjoys a more-and more prominent international standing and the  Chinese  academic  circle has begun to reconsider its  social and cultural functions.      “Symposium on the Development  Strategy of  the Discourse Research in China ” was   held  in  Hangzhou  during  May 29  to 30  by  the Institute  of Language  of  Chinese  Academy  of  Social  Sciences and the Institute of Discourse and Culture Studies in Zhejiang University.

  Experts   and  Scholars  fromuniversities  and  institutes  home  and    abroad   attended  the   symposium,  which  was  focused  on the topic-- “To establish  a  discourse  research system and research team with Chinese characteristics” .  Participants  enjoyed a  two-day  heated  and  free   discussion and agreed on eight items of common understandings.
