An International Symposium on Sinology and Sino-West Cultural Relations and Exchanges Held in ZJU

        Recently, the An International Symposium on Sinology and Sino-West     Cultural  Relations and Exchanges, Sponsored by the Institute of English Literature of SIS, was held in Zijingang Campus of Zhejiang University. More than forty experts gathered in this beautiful campus from over ten countries and regions. During the conference, they recollected the history of cultural communication between the East and West, exchanged methods for further exchanges, and presented all those phenomenon and situations where the two cultures meet in the climate of globalization.

Experts present were in ardent discussion on topics like the transitions of thoughts, literature and history over cultures, science fictions and Chinese movies, religions and sinology, Chinese writers in and abroad, and practice in several languages. Also present are world famous experts on sinology, Wei Ruowang and Ai Siren, each giving a theme speech, the former named Eyes on China in the 18th Century——the French Royal Mathematician Liu Ying Sent to Beijing, and the later being Raphael and His Chinese Research Team.

Besides, the experts also visited the exhibition of western books related to China, From A Preliminary Edition to ‘The Index of Beitang Library’ with great interest.
