The Appointment Ceremony for DR.BARBARA VONDER L? HE and Dr. MARCUS HERNIG held in SIS

Hosted by School of International Studies, the appointment ceremony for DR.BARBARA VONDER LÜ HE and Dr. MARCUS
HERNIG was held On March.9. Mr. Zhang Hongjian, Director of Human Resources Department attended the seminar
and announced the appointment decision of Zhejiang University. Prof. Dr. Ulrich Steinueller, Dean of SIS and Prof. Fan Jieping,
Acting Dean of SIS, awarded letters of appointment to DR.BARBARA VONDER LÜ HE and Dr.MARCUS HERNIG
and put on school badges for them. The two scholars expressed appreciation and the willingness to make contribution in
teaching and scientific research along with their Chinese colleagues of SIS. After the ceremony, DR.BARBARA
VONDER LÜ HE gave an academic seminar entitled “Media and Literature”.

DR.BARBARA VONDER LÜ HE is a professor of academic research of German and international media of Technische
Universitaet Berlin, and she used to be a professor of the Art Department of Hamburg University and a professor of the
Art and Science Department of XXX University. Her academic research ranges from intercultural communication
(emphasizing particularly on the communication between China and Germany and China’s image in German media) to
the links among media such as German literature and music, international movies and TV program, and the Internet.
Meanwhile, she is also a production manager of TV documentaries, a free writer and a critic.

Dr. MARCUS HERNIG is a scholar who focuses on the research of Germanistik and intercultural communication between
China and Germany. And he has a twelve-year working experience in intercultural research and interdisciplinary
cooperation in China. Previously, he was the principal of the Language and Educational Cooperation Department
of Culture and Education Section of the consulate general of Germany in Shanghai and had contributed a lot to the
intercultural communication and scientific coperation between China and Germany.

The successful introduction of the two scholars is another important action in the reform and innovation of the
construction of the subjects and the mode of cultivating qualified talents in SIS. And this will surely play an important part
in promoting the construction of subjects, optimizing the quality of teachers and creating new increasing points in the
development of SIS, and form a nice basis for the faithful execution of the “11th-Five-Year Plans”.
