Collins corpus linguist, editor-in-chief of the International Journal of Corpus Linguistics, Prof. Wolfgang Teubert from University of Birmingham , Britain, was invited to visit the School of International Studies from November 27 to 30. He gave a lecture entitled "Corpus Linguistics and Its Applications" on November 29 and his lecture covered a wide range of the applications of corpus linguistics including corpus linguistics and lexicology, corpus linguistics and grammar, corpus linguistics and language
teaching, corpus linguistics and translation, corpus linguistics and critical discourse analysis, etc. Over 100 faculty members and MA students from the School of International Studies attended the lecture. During his visit, he also talked about the possibility of running a short course in corpus linguistics in Hangzhou, aiming at establishing a new center of corpus linguistics research at Zhejiang University.
