On the afternoon of March 28, the Graduation and Degree Awarding ceremony for this year’s spring-semester postgraduates
of SIS is held in room 201, Eastern House 5 on ZiJingang Campus of Zhejiang University.
Present at the ceremony are Prof. Ye Gaoxiang, Deputy Party Secretary of ZJU, Prof. Jiang Guojun, section chief of Graduate School,
Prof. Dr. Ulrich Steinmüller, Dean of SIS, Prof. Fan Jieping, Acting Dean of SIS, Prof. Yin Qiping, Vice Dean of SIS, and
Prof. Hu Songfa , Party Secretary of SIS. Prof. Yin Qiping presides over the ceremony.
The ceremony starts with the solemn national anthem. Prof. Hu Songfa and Prof Fan read out the name lists of the graduates and
the list of master-degree winners. Then, Prof Jiang Guojun announces the list of distinguished postgraduates of Zhejiang
University. This spring, 62 postgraduates of SIS have passed the dissertation-defence and won master’s degree. 14 of them have
been awarded the title of Distinguished Postgraduates of Zhejiang University. When the leaders deliver the certificates to the
graduates, excitement is seen clearly in the words and manners of the gradutaes. Later, Prof. Ye Gaoxiang introduces the
accomplishments of ZJU in recent years and on behalf of ZJU, he expresses his sincere expectations. He hopes that ZJU
graduates would serve our nation and people; keep studying for a life time and embrace challenges; be innovative, creative and
outstanding. “From now on, Zhejiang University is our Alma Mater, I hope you will visit Zhejiang University now and then.
“His speech wins loud applause of the graduates. Prof. Fan expresses similar expectations and requirements. He expects
the graduates to carry on the tradition of ZJU and be proud of our Alma Mater and SIS. On behalf of the tutors, Prof. Gao Feng hopes
that all the graduates would be confident and not worry about personal gains and losses. Liu Jia, the representative of the
graduates expresses her excitement on graduation day, her gratitude to teachers and her nostalgia for Zhejiang University.
After the ceremony, the leaders of ZJU and SIS, teachers and graduates present at the ceremony have a group photo taken to
mark this unforgettable occasion.
