Ms. Xia Jimei, an expert of Undergraduate Education Evaluation Group, visited School of International Studies (SIS) of ZJU
On the morning of
Xuefang, Vice President of ZJU Labor Union. Mr. Hu Songfa, Secretary of the SIS Party Committee, chaired the report meeting, in which the leading group of SIS party and administration, SIS Party committee members, head of the Institutions of SIS,
teacher representatives and directors of units directly under Party and administration participated.
Evaluation Group expert, Ms. Xia Jimei first listened to report given by Prof. Fan Jieping, Acting Dean of SIS, through which she had a rudimental understanding of SIS in aspects like history and present situation, guiding ideology for education, teaching
management and reforms, internationalization of education, and direction of future development. After that, she had further
information about the establishment of College English teachers, as well as students’choice of courses, autonomous-study, module courses, and prize and awards the students have received. Subsequently Ms. Xia Jimei visited the modern multimedia
network teaching and experimental center of SIS, where she watched online the teaching Internet database and the New
College English website.
Ms. Xia Jimei is the director of Foreign Language Teaching Center, Sun Yat-Sen University (SYSU), master supervisor in
Linguistics and Applied Linguistics in Foreign Languages, Vice-chairman of Consultative Committee Teaching of Foreign
Languages at University of Ministry of Education, and commissioner of College English Examination Board of Ministry of
Education. She highly approved the accomplishments SIS had achieved. “SIS has been working in all respects around the
central task of ZJU and advancing its reform measures with an outcome of remarkable success, which is other universities and colleges of foreign languages will find helpful in their development.” she expressed.
