Mexico is a far-away and interesting land to most of the Chinese students. On the morning of Dec.18, with their unique traditions, customs, specialty food, and in particular, their unique enthusiasm, over 40 Mexican students studying in China arrive at Zijingang Campus, where they have a three-hour joyful party with ZJU students.
In order to better introduce and present their country, the Mexican government has launched a world-wide plan together with other related organizations, in which the Mexican students studying abroad play the major role.
"Hello, my name is Daluo. I come from Mexico. And my friends are all Mexicans. We are happy to be here with you." The party begins with a fluent speech in Chinese made by a Mexican student, and it goes on in gaiety. It turns out to be a wonderful party. During the three hours, Mexican friends take turns to introduce to the ZJU students the Mexican history, culture, local handicrafts and food. These hospitable Mexican friends also bring the unique Mexican pulque for their Chinese friends present to have a taste. Then there come songs and dances with Mexican national features, which take the audience by storm.After the performances, Wang Lingling, Party Secretary Deputy of SIS, gives a speech. She speaks highly of the presentations and performances of the Mexican students and expresses her expectation that ZJU student would also take an active role in presenting Chinese tradition and culture to the world as their Mexican fellows do.
Before the party ends, the Mexican friends and their Chinese students enjoy some time for informal communications, during which they have talks about shared topics and exchange their e-mail addresses and other ways of communication, in the hope that they may keep in touch in future.
Time flies, but the three hours spent together enables them to better understand each other, starting a long and deep friendship between the Mexican students and their Chinese friends.
