The first four-week (Jul.14—Aug.11) Language and Culture summer exchange program between ZJU and UCLA is a great success. This program is launched by the Institute of Applied Linguistics of SIS, ZJU and Wenren Xing, Assistant Director of the institute, was in charge when the program was carried out in America.
In the early 2005, this program was first planed and arranged by the Institute of Applied Linguistics. Throughhe process of examining and sifting, 15 excellent undergraduate students in different majors at ZJU were picked out.
This program is aimed at improving the students’ qualifications in English, bringing them closer to American culture and advancing exchanges and cooperation between these two universities.
For the students, they are quite satisfied with the well-designed courses and comfortable living surroundings provided by UCLA. And they all wish that there will be more such exchange programs in the future so as to create more opportunities for ZJU students to experience abroad and introduce ZJU, and Chinese culture as well.
