A Student Delegation from RWTH Aachen Visited SIS

On the afternoon of December 1, 2010, a student delegation from Rheinisch Westfaelische Technische Hochschule Aachen (RWTH Aache) paid a visit to School of International Studies (SIS). They received a warm welcome from German students in ZJU, the students who major in German, and Associate Professor Li Yuan who is the assistant dean of SIS and vice director of Institute of German Studies.

 

At 16:00, in Room 201, East Block 5, students from RWTH Aache held a discussion with both Chinese and German students in ZJU, taking a full view of Zhejiang University, “China Studies”, and the friendship between China and Germany. Associate Professor Li hosted the meeting. She started with a sincere welcome and an introduction about Zhejiang University, SIS and Institute of German Studies. The visitors were impressed by the long history, brilliant faculty, advanced equipment, fruitful academic achievements, abundant transnational cooperation and exchange programs of ZJU.

 

Later, Associate Professor Li, who is also the mentor of “China Studies” for German students, introduced this program, especially its aims. It is oriented by the cultivation of students’ abilities and features contemporary China. The program provides a series of specialized courses, elective courses and cultural practice. Through her vivid introduction, “China Studies” presents its richness and uniqueness, attracting all the students from RWTH Aache.

 

Later, Associate Professor Li, together with two assistant teachers and student representatives, answered the questions concerning “China Studies”. In the following 30 minutes, student representatives made further communications with the visitors about the experience and achievements they had made in China. At dusk of such a late-autumn day, students in small groups exchanged their opinions jovially.

 

This discussion was a great success. Many students of RWTH Aache expressed their desire to study in Zhejiang University, especially in “China Studies”. Then the guests from RWTH Aache went around the beautiful Zijingang Campus. Walking through the fine drizzle, they had an agreeable tour, revealing the precious friendship between Germany and China.
