WANG Xiaolu: Cognitive Linguistics, Psycholinguistics, Neurolinguistics, Language & Thought, Second Language Acquisition (EFL/ESL, & CFL/CSL)

WANG Xiaolu, Female, born in July, 1956, graduated from Zhejiang University, China, obtained her doctor’s degree in 2007, and is now professor, deputy director of Institute of Foreign Language Teaching, and deputy director of the Center of College English Teaching.

 

Academic interest: Her main academic interest lies in the Mechanism of Metaphor Cognition, Language and Thought, Second Language Acquisition, including EFL/ESL, and CFL/CSL. She teaches Educational Psychology for Chinese as a Foreign Language Teaching for graduates, psycholinguistics for English majors, and College English as well as American Culture and Oral English for non-English majors. 

 

Achievements:

a)       Main projects: She was responsible for “The research on brain neuro-mechanism of Chinese metaphorical cognition” (Key Project of Humanities and Social Sciences funded by China Ministry of Education, 2007) and “The neuro-mechanism of Chinese metaphorical cognition” (Key Project of Humanities and Social Sciences funded by Zhejiang Province, 2007). Currently she is conducting a research on “The neuro-mechanism of Chinese metaphorical cognition from the perspective of functional brain imaging” (The National Philosophy and Social Sciences Fund Project, 2009).

b)       Papers: She has published nearly 30 papers at top academic journals at home and abroad, including “A Review on Explorations in Prsagmatics: Linguistic, Cognitive and Intercultural Aspects” (Contemporary Linguistics, 2011), “On the Consciousness of Slips of the Tongue (Journal of Dialectics of Nature, 2010, collected by Chinese Social Science Digest, 2011)”, “A Multidimentional Perspective on Metaphor Research” (Journal of Foreign Languages, 2010), “A Review on Cognitive Aspects of Bilingualism” (Foreign Language Teaching and Research, 2009), Agentive and Contextual Factors Affecting Metaphorical Cognition (RASK, 2009), The Semantic Function of Association (Journal of Zhejiang University, 2007), and so on

c)        Works: Chinese Metaphorical Cognition & Its ERP Imaging, Beijing: Higher Education Press, 2009.

d)       Awards: The Paper, “Thinking with and without Language” (2006) was awarded “Second Prize of Academic Achievements of Colleges and Universities in Zhejiang Province by Education Department of Zhejiang Province, 2009.
