At the invitation of Dr. ZHAO Hongqin, Institute of Linguistics, SIS, Prof. Mairead Dunne from Sussex University, UK, supported by the lecture project of ZJU for short-term experts, successfully completed her two-week academic exchange in our school in June. Mairead Dunne is the professor in the School of Education & Social Work, Sussex University, UK, as well as the director of Research Center for International Education. She also is an education sociologist, and an expert on the research of gender self-identity.
During the exchange, Prof. Mairead Dunne gave two great lectures for our teachers and students separately in June 2 and June 9. The lectures have increased the chances of interdisciplinary exchange and international cooperation. The lectures explored the topics of “International Migration for Higher Education: the UK Student Profile” and “Producing Gendered Citizens: Institutional Culture and Research” with statistics data and culture analysis. What’ more, she also took part in the teaching activity in School of Ying Xingjiu actively, which belongs to the education cooperation project of SIS with Zhen Hai district, Ningbo.
Teacher ZHENG Huiqing and LI Junmin both think that Prof. Mairead Dunne’s research shows a good research practice and is meaningful for government's education decision-making. Our teachers will cooperate with her further and keep the international exchange of SIS going.
