PANG Jixian:Linguistics and Applied Linguistics

PANG Jixian is Professor of English and Applied Linguistics at Zhejiang University, Hangzhou, China. He has taught Research Methods in Applied Linguistics, English for Specific Purposes and Schools of Linguistics for nearly 20 years. His research interests are in the areas of applied linguistics, especially, discourse analysis, English for specific purposes, research methods in applied linguistics, and testing.

Professor Pang is an experienced writer and reviewer, having published widely in the field of applied linguistics in CSSCI and SSCI indexed scholarly journals both at home and abroad. He has also published some textbooks, the most recent of which are Practical English Writing (Higher Education Press, 2005) and Writing a Research Paper (Zhejiang University, 2008, 2011). He supervises postgraduate students in linguistics and applied linguistics at both MA and PhD levels in the School of International Studies and the School of Humanities, Zhejiang University. Currently he is vice chairman of both Zhejiang Province Foreign Languages Association and Zhejiang Province Translators Association. He holds a concurrent post as dean of the School of Foreign Language Studies, Ningbo Institute of Technology, Zhejiang University.
