On the afternoons of September 12th and 16th, 2011, Prof. Kobayashi was invited to lecture in our school on the topic of “Japanese classical art – the relationship between Noh and Chinese ancient works”. Hosted by Professor Liu Ruizhi, the lecture attracted lots of Japanese majors from Zhejiang University and Zhejiang University City College, as well as some postgraduates of other majors who had took Japanese courses.

Mr. Kobayashi made a wonderful speech, and showed the Japanese national treasure character by DVD as well as sang in person, which received a round of warm applause. Then he answered students’ questions about Noh, making them more acquainted with Noh and more clear about the fact that the development of Noh had an indivisible connection with Chinese arts.

Moreover, Mr. Kobayashi donated the research books worth 3500 to SIS. Professor Wang Yong, the vice dean, accepted the book list and conveyed thanks. During his visit in China, Mr. Kobayashi went to the former residence of Yu Dafu and LongMen Ancient Town in Fuyang, and then investigated Tiantong Temple and Ningbo museum in Ningbo. He also respectively gave lectures in Zhejiang Wanli College and Ningbo Institute of Technology, Zhejiang University, and enjoyed great popularity among students and teachers. At the end of every lecture, he always said, “I hope that the Japanese arts can be understood, preserved and developed under the care of all the people.” His sincere wish deeply touched us, which initiated our awareness of the hardship and importance in protecting cultural heritage and made us think about our country’s cultural heritage protection.
