Famous French Writer Dan Franck Gave a Lecture at the Institute of French Language & Culture

On Dec.22nd, Dan Franck, the famous French writer, visited the Institute of French Language & Culture and gave a speech about his writing career to the teachers and students. Professor MENG Xiaoming, the director of the institute, and Mr. Alexandre, the president of the Alliance française of Zhejiang Gongshang University, were present.

 

Dan Franck is a well-known French writer, literary critic and art critic, and he specializes in the study of Picasso. He graduated from the department of sociology of University of Sorbonne, Paris, France. His first novel Les Calendes grecques was published in 1980. And his work, La Séparation, won Prix Renaudot, one of the highest literature prize in France. Franck publishes one novel every two years. Up till now, he has published 62 works and his fresh and beautiful writing style has been favored by the readers. Meanwhile, he is also a famous film and TV script writer. And he wrote many celebrities' autobiography, including the well-known football player, Zinedine Yazid Zidane.

 

Besides giving this lecture and taking part in the Christmas party, Mr. Dan Franck would also give a special lecture about Picasso in Zhejiang Academy of Art during his visit in Hangzhou. He introduced the background information about his writing career in simple and plain words. He was so amiable and his speech made the audience burst into pearls of laughter from time to time. In the Q&A session, the audience raised questions actively after serious thinking. Questions included "whether you would like to participate in writing French textbooks", "differences between writing novels and writing screenplays", "a brief evaluation on Picasso's artistic achievements" and so on. One after another, Dan Franck patiently gave his detailed answers. He then presented awards to the winners in French dubbing contest of the Minority Languages Talent Competition Series.

 

Through this lecture, we have learned many unknown details about this well-known writer and his writing career, and improved our humanistic qualities and literary taste as well. We will conduct more detailed thinking and research on French literature and script writing, and make efforts to achieve better results in 2012.
