The 3rd Academic Symposium for German-major Doctoral Students was held in Beijing

The 3rd Academic Symposium for German-major Doctoral Students at universities both in China and Germany was held in Beijing Foreign Studies University from May, 2nd to May, 3rd. Nearly 50 experts, scholars, and doctoral students from 25 academic research institutions and universities,including Zhejiang University, Institute of German Language, Goethe Institute, German Academic Exchange Service, University of Goettingen, University of Bochum, University of Jena, Peking University, Nanjing University, Fudan University, Shanghai International Studies University and Beijing Foreign Studies University,attended the meeting.
 
Under the guidance of Prof. FAN Jieping and Prof. LI Yuan, who were especially invited by the seminar, three doctoral students of Johannes Baumann, OlenaBannikova and GAO Yuan from our school took part in the forum.
 
The theme of this symposium was How to Achieve the Innovation of Doctoral Dissertation, in which 21 doctoral students from both Germany and China introduced their research projects covering several research fields of cross-cultural Germanic studies like Linguistics, Literature, Translation, Education, Diplomacy and Media. Prof. FAN and Prof. LI provided them with some suggestions and new research perspectives. The three students of our school respectively made their reports of Chinese Image in German Political Education, Social Acceptance and Germany Language Acquisition of the Second Generation of Chinese Immigrants in German and the Language Game in Robert Walser’s Robber, and made deep discussion and communication with other present professors and doctoral students.
 
The symposium is a communication and training platform for top-level young talent, with an Academic Steering Committee composed of doctoral supervisors from domestic universities which have doctor’s degree awarding entitlement in German. Doctoral students can better learn the academic frontier of German studies internationally, meet ideas under different culture and academic background, as well as expand their way of thinking and academic view.
