On November 2, 2015, Igor Kondakov, academician of Russian Academy of Natural Sciences and professor from RussianState University for the Humanities, gave a lecture in Room 313, East Building 6.
Prof. Igor Kondakov stated clearly at first that there are three cornerstones in the development of Russian culture, namely Ross baptism, Russian classical culture and Silver Age culture, and he lectured on the classical culture which inherits thepastandushers inthefuture in the development of Russian culture.
During the speech, Prof. Igor Kondakov outlined some key characteristics of Russian culture, such as freedom and servility, enlightenment and tyranny, the West and the East, conservatism and extremism, four curves of ups and downs in cultural development, origin of literary centrism and its significance in culture as well as Russian culture’s orientation in world culture.
Finally, Prof. Wang Yong briefly overviewed the ideas of Prof. Igor Kondakov in Chinese. In the Q&A session, Prof. Igor Kondakov gave detailed answers to the questions related to present situation of Russian Orthodox Church and new polytheism.
The lecture ended in a warm applause. Listeners expected a next visit of Prof. Igor Kondakov and Prof. Igor Kondakov also hoped to share more ideas next time.
