date:2018-03-13

On the afternoon of March 13, 2018, Prof. Mark Turner, a famous cognitive linguist from Case Western Reserve University(CWRU) paid a visit to the Linguistic Cognition Laboratory” of the SIS.

He was accompanied by Prof. Wang Xiaolu and Dr. Esther Pascual after he had delivered a lecture themed “Integration and Language” at the invitation of the SIS.

Prof. Turner not only concentrated on experimenters’ introduction of equipment, but also took an active part in the experiment as a special participant. Here’s Prof. Turner in eye movement test.

Apart from the eye movement lab, Prof. Turner was also interested in the event-related potential (ERP) lab. Although he was not connected to electrodes and applied with EEG cream because it needed much longer time for the preparation of EEG experiment and he had another lecture later, he still went on wearing the EEG cap and completing test tasks.

During his visit, we were so impressed by Prof. Turner’s sense of humor and amicability, and his rigorous attitude towards study was highly admirable.
