On March 4, 2003, the first session of the series of lectures by “Zijin Society”, the School of International Studies was launched, attracting 43 students and teachers. The lecture on Scale R&D was given by Dr. SUN Peijian, a researcher of “A Hundred Talent Program” of the Studies, and moderated by Dr. TENG Lin, also a researcher of “A Hundred Talent Program.”
In the lecture, Dr. SUN shared how to develop and verify the scale by taking the strategic self-regulation scale for speaking English as a foreign language as a case. First, Dr. SUN introduced and reviewed the research on strategic self-regulation for speaking English as a foreign language and clarified the theoretical framework, research objectives and significance of the design of the S2RS-EFL scale in this study.
The lecture focused on research methods, that is, how to design and verify the scale as well as data analysis with exploratory factor analysis and confirmatory factor analysis. After summarizing the development and verification of the scale, Dr. SUN indicated the inspiration of the scale for the speaking English as a foreign language and future development areas.
During the lecture, students and teachers responded actively to the lecture and had heated Q & A. Finally, ZHANG Huiyu, Deputy Dean of the SIS, congratulated on the establishment of the Zijin Society and expressed her expectations for the series of lectures later on.
